Ideas + Inventions: Buckminster Fuller and Black Mountain College

Exploring the genius of R. Buckminster Fuller

Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center      July 15 – November 26, 2005
Exhibit Reception and Zometool Station

In July 2005, Marnie designed, constructed, and installed a collection of 3-D geometric models for Ideas + Inventions: Buckminster Fuller and Black Mountain College – Exploring the genius of R. Buckminster Fuller through Two- and Three-Dimensional Works, an exciting, contemporary exhibit at the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center. Creatively constructed with Zometools, bamboo, and other media, these design models reflected Buckminster Fuller’s passion and life-long exploration into the living geometries of Nature. At the exhibit’s opening reception, Marnie also set up a Zometool station where all ages flocked to have an opportunity to play with these “hands-on” geometries. Later in the fall, Marnie hosted classes for tours of the exhibit and in November, conducted an experiential, hands-on Workshop for all Ages: Great Circles + Spaceship Earth at the Museum.
