The Educational Committee of the Buckminster Fuller Institute and Geometry of Nature are excited to launch the Aboard Spaceship Earth educational program this Summer 2010 in Washington D.C.  During the week of June 1-4, Washington D.C. middle school groups will be invited to participate in a unique educational experience that will explore our planet Earth as a living system.  These 2 hour programs, entitled Water Is Life, integrate Science, Math, Geography, and Social Studies with dynamic educational equipment, including a giant world map, and a range of hands-on modeling and graphing tools.  All lessons and activities will dovetail with the DPI standards for Math, Science and Social Studies, the AAAS benchmarks for science and climate literacy, as well as, employ Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences.

There are already other Fuller-themed events scheduled in Washington during the summer of 2010.  The acclaimed one man play, Buckminster Fuller:The History (and Mystery) of the Universe is slated to run from May 28-July 4 at the Arena Stage.

Also, sustainable designers and innovators from around the world will convene for the third annual Buckminster Fuller Challenge Award Ceremony.  The synergetic effects of these events will be significant.
